Tarneit Rise Primary School was looking for something bold to engage students across all year levels - not just traditional play. Working closely with the school leadership team, we planned a comprehensive climbing precinct that would balance challenge, inclusivity, and durability.

The result is a diverse mix of five BOULDERING® structures: the large-scale Monolith and Titan, the hybrid Nexus Apostle, and two Cumulus pieces (Cirro and Alto) scaled for younger climbers. Together, they create a layered climbing environment that caters to a wide range of abilities and confidence levels, while encouraging repeat use during recess and lunchtime.

The school wanted a palette that reflected both its identity and the natural surrounds. We worked with staff to select a distinctive mix of red, blue, earthy tones, black, and off-white - colours that align with the school’s branding but also tie into existing seating, soft-fall surfacing, and landscape features. The result is a set of structures that feel integrated and site-specific, while standing out as a new focal point for activity.

Since installation, the climbing precinct has quickly become the heart of outdoor play at Tarneit Rise PS. Students gravitate to the walls every break, finding both physical challenge and social connection. With routes set for different levels, the space is accessible to everyone - from beginners finding their first holds to confident climbers seeking progression.

Like every BOULDERING® project, the Tarneit Rise climbing precinct was designed and manufactured in Melbourne, using durable, recyclable materials and built to Australian Standards. The structures are low-maintenance, long-lasting, and tailored to the school’s needs - a safe, sustainable investment that will serve the Tarneit Rise community for years to come.
