Our Story
Across Australia’s public spaces we noticed a common challenge: a lack of movement-rich design beyond traditional playgrounds and recreational spaces that truly engage communities over time. Many spaces were well-used by younger children, yet offered limited opportunity for older kids, teens, and adults looking for challenge, exploration, and social connection.
We asked: What if movement could be intuitive, sculptural, and site-responsive - as much a part of public life as paths, seating, and gathering places?
So we built it.
BOULDERING® began in 2015 with a single structure and a clear idea: movement builds more than muscle. It builds resilience, connection, and confidence. We called it Challenge Play™ - and it still drives everything we do.
Climbing, reimagined
From modular boulders and rope hybrids to more sculptural centrepieces, we develop climbing structures that activate spaces and support ongoing engagement. Every project is delivered end-to-end in-house - from concept and CAD modelling through to fabrication, route setting, and real-world testing.
Designed and made here
We’re a Melbourne-based team designing and manufacturing climbing structures for real communities. Every BOULDERING® structure is proudly made in Australia - reducing the environmental impact of shipping, supporting local jobs, and meeting strict standards. Built with recycled and recyclable materials where possible, our structures are durable, sustainable, and simple to maintain - delivering long-term value with care for the planet.
Creating experiences
We work with landscape architects, councils, designers, and project partners to create structures that are not only visually compelling but also physically inclusive, socially engaging, and responsive to site conditions. By doing so, we help transform under-used areas into welcoming hubs of movement, interaction, and community life.
