Designing for Teens in Public Space
Designing for teenagers in public space is a challenge many projects quietly face. Traditional playgrounds often age out, while skate parks and formal facilities don’t suit everyone. This journal reflects on what we’ve observed across schools and community spaces, and how open-ended movement like climbing can offer a different, more inclusive way for teens to engage.
A Day at Tarneit Rise Primary School - Why Bouldering Belongs in Every Schoolyard
From the first bell at Tarneit Rise Primary School, it was clear the new BOULDERING® wall had already become something special. Students drifted toward it instinctively - some racing, some curious, some quietly testing their confidence one hold at a time. What unfolded was movement, connection, and creativity in its purest form. Watching the space come alive reminded us why bouldering belongs in every schoolyard: it gives every child a place to grow, explore, and belong.
